Boss hopeful as Diakite’s condition improves

QPR midfielder Samba Diakite appears to have shaken off the virus that affected him for almost a fortnight.

Diakite missed last weekend’s hammering at Chelsea and Rangers are hoping he will be able to play in Sunday’s vital match against Stoke.

The chances of him doing so appear to be improving, but there are doubts about his fitness given that he has not trained fully.

Manager Mark Hughes will assess the player before naming his line-up for the game at Loftus Road, where a win could virtually secure the club’s Premier League status.

“We’d like to think he’s over it, but we won’t be taking any chances,” said Hughes.

“It’s important he doesn’t play if he’s fatigued, because that could compromise him. Hopefully he’ll be fine.”
