Boss backs Green ahead of Norwich return

Mark Hughes has tipped Rob Green to bounce back from his nightmare debut when the goalkeeper returns to Carrow Road to face his former club Norwich today.

Green’s mistake led to the first of Swansea’s goals in QPR’s humiliating 5-0 defeat last weekend.

It prompted speculation that Hughes is already looking to replace him, but the R’s boss has insisted that he always intended to sign another keeper before the transfer window closes.

“He was disappointed with the first goal against Swansea but to be honest the other goals were good finishes,” said Hughes.

“I don’t think he needs to be too hard on himself. I was more concerned about what was going on in front of him, to be perfectly honest.

“We’ve had a reaction from him and it’s been really positive. Obviously he’s going back to Norwich and he wants to put things right.

“I think it’s the first time he’s actually been back as an opposing player, so he’s looking forward to going there and playing well.”
