Barton is staying at QPR, says Hughes

QPR boss Mark Hughes has dismissed reports he is looking to sell Joey Barton.

Not for sale.

Club chief executive Philip Beard issued an immediate denial after it was suggested that Barton could be on his way out of Loftus Road following Hughes’ appointment as manager.

And Hughes has insisted he has no plans to offload the controversial midfielder, who is currently serving a three-match ban for his recent sending off against Norwich.

“I’m not thinking in those terms,” said Hughes. “I think it was one of those mischief-making Sunday morning stories.

“We want to have quality players and keep the ones we’ve got, not get them out of the building.”
