Axed QPR youngster set to join Stoke

Youngster Peter Skapetis is set to sign for Stoke City after being told he would not be offered a new contract at QPR.

Skapetis, 19, has been training with the Premier League club since Rangers made it clear he would not be retained when his current deal expires at the end of the season.

The Australian forward failed to impress for QPR’s development side after being give a one-year contract at Loftus Road last summer.

He now appears to have secured a move to Stoke, with Glyn Hodges keen for the deal to go through.

Hodges was head of coaching at Rangers during Mark Hughes’ time as manager and has held a similar position at the Britannia Stadium since Hughes took over as Potters boss last year.
