Gould reaches last 32 at UK Championship

Martin Gould reached the third round of the UK Championship for the first time in his career with a 6-4 win over Gary Wilson.

The Pinner potter took three of the first four frames in York on Saturday but a break of 121 from Wilson helped him pull it back to 3-3.

Gould, who beat Allan Taylor in the first round on Monday, then clinched the next two frames to put himself on the verge of victory.[phone][/phone]

Wilson won frame nine to keep his hopes alive but Gould hit a break of 87 – his highest of the match – to wrap things up.

The 34-year-old will next face either former UK semi-finalist Mark Allen or world number 74 Michael Georgiou in the last 32.
