Rio 2016 round-up: Collins repechage postponed, Richmond trio help GB to semis

Twickenham’s John Collins was among the frustrated rowers left kicking their heels after all races were postponed on Sunday due to high winds.

Collins was due in the men’s double sculls repechage at the Lagoa Stadium in Rio, but bad weather meant the course was too dangerous.

All of the races will now take place on Monday, with Collins and Jonathan Walton aiming for a place in the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Richmond Women’s Alice Richardson and Joanne Watmore played key roles as Great Britain closed in on a medal in the rugby sevens.

Richardson converted her own try in Great Britain’s 22-0 win over Canada in their final group phase game, and they both went over in the 26-7 quarter-final victory against Fiji.

They will meet New Zealand in Monday’s semi-final.
