Ouseph out of World Championships

Hounslow’s Rajiv Ouseph crashed out of badminton’s World Championships, losing 21-8. 21-18 against Danish veteran Peter Hoeg Gade in the first round.

The number three seed took 40 minutes to see off Ouseph at Wembley Arena and book his place in the next stage.

It means the Londoner is still yet to beat Gade, who has won all seven of their encounters.

Ouseph was ranked 11th in the world last year and has since slipped to 27th, although he remains the British number one.
