Groves weighs in ahead of WBSS final
George Groves has weighed in ahead of his World Boxing Super Series super-middleweight final showdown with Callum Smith in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Hammersmith’s world champion, who will be defending his WBA title and competing for the Muhammad Ali Trophy, came in a couple of ounces inside the 12st super-middleweight limit.
Liverpool’s Smith, a couple of ounces lighter than the West Londoner, is unbeaten and fighting for a world title for the first time.
The prestigious Ring Magazine belt – awarded to boxers seen as the number one in their weight class – will also be up for grabs.

“It’s fight time now. I’m ready to go,” said Groves.
“All the talking is done. I’m sick of talking. I’m ready to fight.
“This is the most prestigious fight I’ve ever been involved in. It’s a must-win for me – an absolute must-win.
“Experience is going to count for a lot. I don’t necessarily require it, as I believe I’m a better fighter than Smith, but it’s going to count for a lot. It’s a massive advantage that I have.”
Groves will be making the third defence of the world title he won by beating Russia’s Fedor Chudinov in May last year.
