Superb victory for Ouseph in Hong Kong
Rajiv Ouseph produced his best performance of the year to knock fourth seed Du Pengyu out of the Hong Kong Open in Kowloon.
The Hounslow man took only 36 minutes to complete a 21-15 21-14 victory against his Chinese opponent and will face Hans-Kristian Vittinghus of Denmark or China’s Chen Yuekun in the second round.
Ouseph, the English champion and Commonwealth Games silver medallist, trailed 11-6 in the first game but hit back to level at 12-12 before rattling off six points in a row.
He was 8-5 down in the following game but again staged a recovery, leading 15-10 before a strong finish.
