Ouseph feeling upbeat ahead of Open

Hounslow’s Rajiv Ouseph is confident his form is returning in time to spring a surprise at the Yonex All-England Open Badminton Championships.

Ouseph, who suffered a disappointing early exit at the Olympic Games, has pulled off some big wins in recent weeks, including taking his sixth successive national title and defeating number three seed Sho Sasaki to reach the quarter-finals of the German Open.

The world number 34 hasn’t always done himself justice at the All-England – seen by many as the third biggest tournament in the sport behind the Olympic Games and World Championships.

But he is determined to change that in Birmingham next week.

“After the Olympics I had a little bit of a lull in my form and some of the tournaments I was playing in,” admitted the 26-year-old.

“Just before Christmas I was trying a few new things in training and they look to have paid off now.

“I have just got to concentrate on myself and try and produce a good level and if I can play to that good level I am confident I can produce a few upsets.”
