Hounslow’s Ouseph wins again in Macau

Hounslow’s Rajiv Ouseph defeated teenage qualifier Chi Yu Lo on Wednesday morning to make the last 16 of the Macau Open.

Fifth seed Ouseph came through 21-9, 21-15 against world number 735 Lo.

After losing the first couple of points of the match, the west Londoner soon clicked into gear and after a tight opening reeled off seven points in a row to go 16-5 in front.

While wrapping up the first game was a formality, the second was a fair bit closer as Lo, of Chinese Taipei, stuck with his more experienced opponent.

He hit back from 5-1 down to level at 6-6 and didn’t let Ouseph get out of his sight, up to 13-12.

But the world number 28 then won six straight points to break Lo’s resistance and ensure his progress in the tournament.

Ouseph will be on action again on Thursday when he plays world number 324 Heo Kwang-Hee, the South Korean who knocked out 12th seed Mohamad Arif Abdul Latif in round two.
