Watford teenager rejoins Stones on loan

Wealdstone have re-signed highly-rated Watford teenager Luke O’Nien on a season-long loan deal.

The 19-year-old midfielder spent the final month of last season at The Vale, helping the Stones clinch the Ryman Premier Division title.

He made his debut as a late substitute in a win over Billericay on 31 March, while his first start came three days later against East Thurrock United. He also started the final game of the season, a 2-0 home win over Canvey Island.

Wealdstone boss Gordon Bartlett said: “After a successful period last year, we are delighted to secure Luke’s services again.

“He will add drive and energy to the squad with his box-to-box running and excellent passing range.”

O’Nien signed his first professional contract with the Hornets last summer, having graduated from the Championship club’s academy.

He made his Watford debut as an 88th minute substitute in a 3–0 win at home to Barnsley on 15 March, shortly before his first loan with the Stones began.
