Watford duo to stay at Wealdstone

Watford youngsters Britt Assombalonga and Connor Smith will stay with Wealdstone for another month.

The duo have made a big impact since arriving at the Ruislip-based club in November and Watford have agreed to extend their loan spells.

The news is a massive boost for Stones boss Gordon Bartlett, who said: “Both lads have settled in well and helped us extend our run of just one defeat in the last 19 matches. I’m sure this extension can only benefit all three parties.

“Young players always take time to adjust to the differences of the non-League game but after this initial period, they now realise what is required and I think they will now make an even bigger impact with games coming thick and fast.”

Striker Assombalonga has already scored eight goals for Wealdstone, while midfielder Smith has also impressed.

Bartlett added: “Their great work ethic has made them a hit with fans and players alike, and I’m sure scoring goals and the positive results has helped them play with a smile on their face.”
