Lewis stands down as Hayes & Yeading boss

Mickey Lewis has stepped down as Hayes & Yeading United first-team manager.

United lost 2-1 at Redditch on Saturday to leave them 19th in the Southern League Premier Division, with just 12 points from 13 games.

Lewis took over as boss in May after the club’s relegation from National League South and the subsequent departure of Garry Haylock.

The former West Brom, Derby and Oxford defender will remain with Hayes & Yeading to work in the club’s academy.

United director of football Tristan Lewis – who has had two previous spells in charge himself – will take the reins on a caretaker basis while a permanent successor is sought.

It will be the fourth manager the club has had in the last 20 months, since Phil Babb left in February 2015.
