Hendon clinch double signing

Hendon have completed the signing of former Arsenal and Brentford striker Isaiah Rankin – and have re-signed defender Ryan Wharton.

Rankin, 33, had been training with the Greens and manager Gary McCann recently indicated that he was keen to retain him.

He started his career with Arsenal, and later made 82 league appearances during a two-year spell at Brentford, scoring 15 goals. His career has also included stints at Bradford, Barnsley and Grimsby.

Wharton, 27, returns to Hendon having made 11 appearances for the club during the 2006/07 campaign. More recently he has played for Hemel Hempstead Town and Beaconsfield.
