Hayes & Yeading find £300k for stadium

Hayes & Yeading United say they have secured the £300,000 needed to move into their planned new stadium by Christmas.

The Conference South side have been homeless since moving out of Church Road in 2011, and currently play games at Maidenhead’s York Road ground.

After a 3G pitch, stand and floodlights were built, work on their new stadium stalled as United failed to find the required funding to finish it.

But the club has announced it can now press ahead with construction after securing the cash.

In a statement, the United board said: “Works will commence shortly with a view to finally returning home, with the aim to be back at Beaconsfield Road by Christmas 2015.

“The club have agreed terms with Maidenhead United for a further short spell of ground sharing until our own ground has been approved for the grading necessary.”
