Dowson takes over as Beavers boss

Hampton & Richmond have appointed former Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson as their new manager.

Dowson, who had spells at Millwall and Darlington as a player and has also managed Walton & Hersham, was placed in charge of the Beavers 24 hours after the resignations of joint managers Paul Barry and Darren Powell.

The Newcastle-born 43-year-old left the K’s last season after seven years at the club after they narrowly missed out on promotion.

Hampton chairman Steve McPherson said: “Alan is a man held is high esteem throughout non-League football.

“I was taken aback by his enthusiasm to be involved and take our club forward. His passion is infectious. He lives two minutes from the Beveree so perhaps it is meant to be.

“It was all very quick and I believe we have the right man at the helm. I hope the fans and players back him the whole way.”
