Spinner Rayner earns England Lions call
Middlesex off-spinner Ollie Rayner has been called into the England Lions squad for their tour of Sri Lanka.
The 28-year-old, who enjoyed a superb county season with both bat and ball in 2013, steps in for Lancashire bowler Simon Kerrigan, who is nursing a back injury.
Rayner will join two of his Middlesex team-mates, opener Sam Robson and paceman James Harris, in the 15-man squad, which will arrive in Sri Lanka next Monday.
Their itinerary includes three four-day matches against Sri Lanka A in Kandy, Dambulla and Colombo.
Last September, Rayner became the first Middlesex bowler in almost 60 years to take 15 wickets in a match when his spin bowling demolished Surrey.
In the wake of that performance, he was tipped for an international future by Middlesex and England legend John Emburey.
