Morgan signs new Middlesex contract

England batsman Eoin Morgan has signed a new long-term contract at Middlesex.

The Irish-born limited-overs specialist has extended his stay at Lord’s a month after being awarded an ECB central contract.

The 26-year-old, who is in the England Test squad currently preparing for a series with India, made his first-class debut for Middlesex in 2006.

Chief executive Vinny Codrington said: “We are absolutely thrilled that Eoin has chosen to commit his long-term future to Middlesex.

“There is no better example of our success in producing England players than Eoin Morgan.

“With the exceptional talent he possesses Eoin is quite rightly regarded as one of the most gifted batsmen in world cricket today.”

Codrington added: “Securing the long-term future of a player of Eoin’s calibre is yet another example of our commitment to ensuring a successful period for the club on the field in the future.”
