More rain frustrates Middlesex at Lord’s

Close, day three: Somerset 173, Middlesex 364-3

Middlesex 7pts, Somerset 1pt

Rain meant only 17.5 overs were possible on day three at Lord’s, where Middlesex moved to 364-3 in their first innings.

They resumed on 321-2, with Dawid Malan making 51 before being removed by Craig Overton, who was the most dangerous of the Somerset bowlers.

Joe Denly added 11 to his overnight score and ended the day unbeaten on 116, with Eoin Morgan two not out.

It left Middlesex with a 191-run lead going into the final day – 36 runs short of a fifth batting bonus point.
