Middlesex sign Pakistan paceman Junaid

Middlesex have signed Pakistan paceman Junaid Khan as their third overseas player of the season.

Khan, 25, replaces Joe Burns who has linked up with the Australia A team.

Burns himself was covering for Adam Voges after his call-up to Australia’s Test squad, and played seven County Championship matches for Middlesex, averaging 29.

He also featured in six T20 Blast games.

Khan will primarily be involved in Middlesex’s Royal London One-Day Cup group matches but will also be available for County Championship games should his services be required.

He is likely to make his debut against former club Lancashire when Middlesex visit Blackpool on Wednesday.

Middlesex managing director of cricket Angus Fraser said: “With over 80 international appearances and over 150 international wickets, Junaid will bring variety, experience and further quality to our bowling attack.

“His time with Lancashire means he has experience of English conditions and his presence will ease the workload on our main seamers too.”
