Middlesex pacemen agree new deals

Middlesex bowlers Harry Podmore and Tom Helm have signed new contracts with the club.

Podmore, 21, has made 18 first-team appearances since making his short-form debut for the club in 2014.

Last year, he claimed 42 wickets in the Second XI Championship and also hit a century in the same competition against Essex.

Helm, 21, came into the first team a year earlier but has only made 11 appearances, including playing in the first two County Championship matches of this season, before a long-term back injury limited his opportunities.

Middlesex’s managing director of cricket Angus Fraser said: “In Harry and Tom, Middlesex are fortunate to have two extremely talented and exciting young fast bowlers.

“If the pair of them continue to work hard, remain fit and strong, and develop as they have, they will be a major part of our plans for many years to come.”
