Middlesex lose second day to the weather

Close, day two: Middlesex v Sussex

Middlesex were left frustrated by the rain once more as the second day of their County Championship clash with Sussex was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

The umpires decided to call things off around 1.10pm after heavy overnight rain saturated the outfield at Merchant Taylors School in Northwood.

Monday’s first day was also washed out, meaning the match is likely to be drawn.

County Championship leaders Middlesex are hoping to extend their unbeaten home run, having won all three of their Championship matches at Lord’s this season.
