Middlesex draft in Bailey to cover Voges absence

Middlesex have signed former Australia batsman George Bailey to cover the mid-summer void left by skipper Adam Voges.

Bailey, who has captained his country in both one-day and T20 cricket, will join the club at the end of June when Voges leaves for international duty.

The 33-year-old has played five Tests, 71 one-day internationals and 28 T20 internationals for Australia, and played county cricket for Hampshire in 2013 and Sussex in 2015.[phone][/phone]

Bailey will be available for all of Middlesex’s T20 Blast and Royal London One-Day Cup matches between the end of June and mid-August.

Middlesex’s managing director of cricket Angus Fraser said: “George is an outstanding cricketer with an excellent record in all forms of the game, and, as someone who has captained his country, he will be a valuable addition to the squad both on and off the field.
