Malan and Middlesex put Glamorgan to sword at Lord’s

Glamorgan 251-9 (50 ov): Ingram 102, Rudolph 58; Harris 4-38
Middlesex 255-2 (39.4 ov): Malan 156*, Stirling 58; Bull 1-40
Middlesex (2 pts) beat Glamorgan (0 pts) by eight wickets

Dawid Malan’s career-best 156 not out helped Middlesex end their Royal London One-Day Cup campaign in style with a crushing win over Glamorgan at Lord’s.

James Harris was the star with the ball as he took 4-38 in his 10 overs to restrict the visitors to 251-9.

Colin Ingram hit five sixes in a 91-ball century while skipper Jacques Rudolph made 58 at the top of the innings.

But Middlesex made a mockery of their target by knocking off half the runs in just 19 overs without losing a wicket.

Paul Stirling made a run-a-ball 58 and put on 138 with Malan, whose fluent hitting saw him score 18 fours and four sixes.

After Sam Robson (22) fell, the home side needed just 37 from 13 overs and Malan continued to punish the bowling to pass his previous best List A score of 134, made against Essex in 2012.

Neil Dexter finished it off with a six as Middlesex won with more than 10 overs to spare – however, it was still not enough to see them into the knockout stages.

They would have needed a series of results to go their way, but were thwarted by the first when Sussex lost to Warwickshire.
