Fulham finish season by thrashing Swans

Fulham finished a difficult season by ending a seven-match winless run with a stunning victory at the Liberty Stadium.

After Alex Kacaniklic’s early opener, Whites keeper Mark Schwarzer made several fine saves before late goals from Dimitar Berbatov and Urby Emanuelson sealed a fine triumph for Martin Jol’s side.

Poor defending by Swansea allowed Kacaniklic to drift into acres of space to collect Emmanuel Frimpong’s pass and put his team ahead.

Kacaniklic then had an effort tipped onto the post by Michael Vorm before Schwarzer, perhaps making his final appearance for Fulham, kept City at bay.

The veteran denied Jonathan De Guzman, Ashley Williams. Chico Flores, Wayne Routledge – who also fired into the side netting – and Pablo Hernandez.

And as Swansea ran out of ideas, Bryan Ruiz set up Berbatov, who rounded Vorm before slotting into an empty net for his 15th league goal of the season.

Substitute Emanuelson made it three in injury time, tapping in after Vorm could only parry Giorgos Karagounis’ effort.
