Tactical change paid off for Fulham – Silva

Fulham boss Marco Silva savoured his side’s victory over QPR in the west London derby.

Aleksandar Mitrovic scored twice in a 4-1 triumph for the Whites at Craven Cottage.

Silva felt a tactical change helped pave the way for a handsome win.

“We made changes to Harry Wilson by putting him outside on the right, and Bobby Decordova-Reid inside to help us put more of a press – and we had a fantastic reaction,” Silva explained.

“I had a short conversation with the players after the game and told them that’s the way to react to adversity.”

On a less positive note for Silva, Joe Bryan and Ivan Cavaliero picked up injuries and could miss Wednesday’s game against Cardiff.

Cavaliero aggravated a knock and Bryan was hurt while trying to prevent Lyndon Dykes scoring QPR’s goal.

Silva said: “Ivan had one or two issues during the week, and we tried to protect him one or two days.

“Joe Bryan collided with a post. It doesn’t look too serious, but we have to find out over the next one or two days how they are.”
