Fulham star Wilson edging closer to return

Fulham’s Harry Wilson is edging closer to making his return from injury.

Wilson is yet to play this season because of a ligament injury in his knee.

But while boss Marco Silva admits that he expected him to be further along in his recovery by now, he hopes it will not be too long before the 25-year-old can make his return.

“It’s difficult to say (when he will return),” Silva said.

“When we have these type of injuries in the beginning, in that ligament as well, he can have some steps forward and then something comes and there’s some steps back as well.

“He’s doing normal, I can say. We expected him to be a bit more ready right now than he really is but let’s hope in 10 days or 15 days we can see him train with more confidence in the team, then after this we can get him in the best shape we can to be a solution for me and for our team, and for the national team as well.

“He’s okay and he’s already training. He was part of the session with the team and in other moments he’s in the gym to for him to get in the best shape he can.

“I think he’s going well but these type of things can take five or ten days more than we expected.

“Hopefully, next week , he starts to do more with us and he starts to feel well, and he can be involved as well. I think it will be something that is not so long right now.”

Meanwhile, Antonee Robinson and Neeskens Kebano are among the Fulham players who will be assessed ahead of the game with Newcastle, though striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is expected to play.
