Fulham boss Silva happy to let Onomah move on

Fulham boss Marco Silva says midfielder Josh Ononmah will be allowed to leave the club before the transfer window closes next week.

Onomah, who is in the final year of his contract, almost joined West Brom on a season-long loan in the summer only for the move to break down at the last minute after the Baggies failed to register the appropriate paperwork in time.

However, with Steve Bruce no longer managing the Midlands club that move to The Hawthorns is now off the table.

The 25-year-old, who joined the Whites in 2019 from Tottenham as part of the Ryan Sessegnon transfer, is desperate for first-team football – and Silva happy for him to move on.

“It is possible for something to happen for Josh in this market. He needs to play. It is important to him,” Silva said.

“Last season he started really well but in the second half of the season he didn’t play so often.

“I had a conversation with him at the end of last season and we decided together that it was important for him to go for many reasons.

“Last summer things didn’t work out well for him getting more minutes elsewhere.

“He is a top lad, a great professional as well. Every training session he is there wanting to improve.

“Some games he has come on this season but he needs more minutes in his legs and it is important for him to go.

“It is a decision we will take with him and see what is best for him and the football club as well.”

Fulham are also keen to let 17-year-old Wales international Luke Harris head out on loan this month.

And defender Ibane Bowat is set to join Dutch side Den Bosch on loan until the end of the season.
