Silva hails ‘fantastic’ Carvalho after Fulham win

Fulham boss Marco Silva hailed the performance of young playmaker Fabio Carvalho after his magnificent performance in the 2-1 win over Millwall.

The 18-year-old set up the opening goal for Aleksandar Mitrovic and scored the second in a match the Whites dominated but were unable to kill off before Millwall scored three minutes from time to set up a nervy finish at The Den.

“We dominated all the game, we didn’t give them chances in our box and and created enough chances to score a third, a fourth or a fifth,” Silva said.

“You know it will be very difficult to play Millwall with this crowd and how they played but our asked them to show our quality, character and quality – and congratulations to our players.

“Carvalho was fantastic. It is something he has been doing since pre-season.

“He started well against Boro, but it is not just him. I see the team playing better achieving better things and becoming more confident and consistent.

“But he was fantastic in the second half, he was fresh, and it wasn’t just with the ball as well, he did everything we asked him to do, but he is 18 and still learning as a player.

“It is up to me to give him the right information and important for him to keep his feet on the floor as it is long journey for him.”
