Raul Jimenez Reups with Fulham for Another Year
After being the anchor at the striker position for Fulham this past season with more than 12 goals, the excitement and drama surrounding Raul Jimenez’s expiring contract is now over. According to major sports outlets at the top betting apps, Jimenez resigned from the Fulham club. The re-signing comes despite incredible interest from other football clubs.
According to his Father, Raul Jimenez Sr., his son decided to stay with Fulham for a chance at a berth for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Before joining Fulham in 2023, Jimenez spent the previous four years with the Wolverhampton Wanderers. Jimenez also had brief stints at Molineux and Juventus. However, after an injury and the unforeseen COVID-19 pandemic, Jimenez didn’t go further with Serie A. Also, many major teams were hesitant to take Jimenez on a loan.
To say that Jimenez Jr. has a shot at World Cup greatness in 2026 is nothing short of miraculous. On November 29, 2020, while playing for Wolverhampton against Arsenal, Jimenez went up for a header from a corner kick, but he collided with David Luiz. With a serious head injury, Jimenez underwent skull surgery. The emergency procedure cost him 41 matches. After a hard rehabilitation, Jimenez Jr. returned to the field in May 2021. Jimenez Jr. finished the 2024-2025 season for Fulham with 12 goals and 3 assists.
For the 2024-2025 season, Fulham finished their third straight season in the Premier League, finishing in 12th place. Besides playing in the Premier League, Raul Jimenez’s steady goal scoring took flight in the FA Cup and EFL Cup. For the FA Cup, Jimenez helped Fulham reach the Quarter Finals while guiding the Fulham football club to the third round of the EFL Cup.
Finishing in 12th place in the highly competitive Premier League comes at a time of great transition. Before the first kick of the 2024-2025 season, Fulham lost a good deal of players from transfers. Most notably, defensive midfielder Joao Palhinha left and took his $42 million salary to Bayern Munich. Another key loss for Fulham heading into the past season was center forward Jay Stansfield, who transferred to Birmingham City. Besides the transfers, Fulham had a rocky past season with more than 12 players loaned out.
Part of Fulham’s struggles this past season was the lack of scoring power. Besides Jimenez booting in 12 goals, for top place, he was only one of two Fulham player to finish with double digit goals. The second highest scorer for Fulham was forward Rodrigo Muniz. Nigerian middle fielder Alex Iwobi finished with nine goals.
With the Premier League set to kick off for the 2025-2026 season, Fulham’s upcoming schedule was released. Fulham opens the season against Brighton on August 16, and then they go against Manchester United the following week. September doesn’t let because Fulham gets another early season test against Leeds United and Brentford. Other key matches for Fulham this upcoming season are against Manchester City in December and Newcastle to close out the season in May.
