Claudio Ranieri labelled Aboubakar Kamara “disrespectful” for taking and missing a Fulham penalty when he was not the designated taker.

Kamara won a spot-kick when he flicked the ball into the arm of Chris Lowe as the Whites beat Huddersfield 1-0, and he insisted on taking it himself as an argument with Aleksandar Mitrovic – the nominated taker – ensued.

Ranieri said he might discipline Kamara and withdraw him from the squad after the forward failed to acknowledge his actions when the Fulham boss spoke to him at full-time.

Ranieri said: “When the man thinks only of himself, it’s not right. He didn’t respect me, the club, his team-mates, the crowd. ‘I want to shoot’ he said, and he didn’t listen to reason.

“I spoke with him and I think he didn’t understand. He didn’t apologise. ‘What if all your team-mates want to shoot, what happens?’, I said.

“It’s impossible to speak with this man. He doesn’t understand the reason. For him, everything is fine. It’s unbelievable. It’s the first time in my life (I’ve had this).

“I don’t know if it’s finished or it will continue. I could discipline him. Maybe I will take him out of the squad, if it is good for the squad.”

Fulham fans booed Kamara after Jonas Lossl saved his poor attempt and then continued jeering him when he touched the ball.

Ranieri continued: “I understood (why the fans booed) but it’s much better if the fans are together and let me do what I have to do.

“In the end, the three points and clean sheet was important for us.”
