Parker admits Fulham weren’t good enough

Scott Parker said Fulham could have no complaints about be sent spinning out of the FA Cup by Burnley after a disappointing display at Craven Cottage,

Two goals from Jay Rodriguez and a Kevin Long strike late in the second half booked the Clarets a spot in the fifth round, where they will host Bournemouth or Crawley.

Parker, who made eight changes to his team, said it was a good chance lost for his side.

“We fell very short of standards or what we are used to seeing,” Parker said.

“We all understood the challenges we faced today but didn’t deal with it too well at times.

“We were not able to get a foothold in the game and Burnley were worthy of the win.”

Burnley dominated throughout and the impressive Rodriguez caused plenty of problems for Michael Hector and Tim Ream.

“We couldn’t deal with the long balls, they put you under a lot of pressure,” he said.

“You could perhaps look at the conditions or the way the pitch played a little bit, but I don’t think it was about that. We just came up short today.

“We were never able to put our print on the game and that is disappointing.”
