Kamara’s two goals take Fulham through

Fulham 2 Exeter 0

An Aboubakar Kamara brace ensured Fulham’s safe passage through to the third round of the Carabao Cup after another dominant display at Craven Cottage.

The Whites made 11 changes to the side that beat Burnley just 48 hours beforehand, with debuts handed to Alfie Mawson and goalkeeper Sergio Rico, and it took the hosts just three minutes to open the scoring.

A flowing passing move led to good work from Cyrus Christie, whose shot was parried into Kamara’s path before the Frenchman plucked it out of the air with a deft volley past keeper Christy Pym.

Kamara also had a curling shot that Pym did well to keep out, while Ryan Sessegnon – who played at left-back – went close with a long-range drive that flew narrowly wide of the post.

Fulham were largely untroubled by the League Two side throughout, aside from a speculative Matt Jay shot from distance that hit the post after Ibrahima Cissé lost possession in midfield.

And Fulham doubled their lead shortly after half-time when captain Stefan Johansen split the Exeter defence with a precise through-ball, and Kamara poked home when one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

Neeskens Kebano and Rui Fonte both went close to adding a third, before André-Frank Zambo Anguissa blazed over from close range in the dying minutes when Johansen’s free-kick was tipped onto the post.
