Ipswich interest confirmed – but Silva says Cairney could get new Fulham deal
Marco Silva has confirmed Ipswich’s interest in Tom Cairney – but suggested the Fulham favourite could sign another new deal to stay at the club.
Cairney, who turns 35 later this month, is in his 11th season at Fulham, having signed a one-year contract during the summer.
Championship promotion chasers Ipswich want to sign him during this month’s transfer window.
“The interest from Ipswich is there. I haven’t had any conversation with Tom about it yet,” said Whites boss Silva.
“If he’s going to have another season at the same level and if he has another contract with our football club, why not again?
“We have time to talk about it and, if this comes on the table, I don’t see any reasons why he cannot do it again.”
Meanwhile, negotiations with Harry Wilson are ongoing.
Wilson is in the final months of his contract and has so far not agreed a new deal.
“Our board has to work with his agent or his representatives for us to do our maximum to do the contract with him. If we come up with good news for us, with a green light, it’s going to be a very important one,” said Silva.
“I know that the club is going to try to renew the contract like he’s trying, and let’s hope we can have good news, but I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
