Improved Fulham draw at Anfield to secure first point under Arbeloa

Fulham battled to a draw at Anfield, securing their first point under new boss Alvaro Arbeloa.

The Whites, with recent signing David Affengruber impressive at the back on his debut, will feel they should have won the game.

They were excellent in the first half and almost went ahead when a Liverpool defensive mix-up culminated in Gonzalo García being denied by Jeremy Jacquet’s goal-line clearance.

There was a scare for Fulham when Victor Munoz headed Konstantinos Tsimikas’ cross against the bar, but Arbeloa’s side continued to threaten and Antonee Robinson missed a chance to put them in front when he headed Oscar Bobb’s cross wide.

Liverpool pushed for a goal after the interval but looked disjointed, while Fulham were resolute and defended well in a much-improved – and encouraging – performance.

And Josh King’s late strike brought a fine save from Reds keeper Alisson.
