Boss Slavisa Jokanovic says he is satisfied with the start Ryan Sessegnon has made for Fulham in the top flight.

The 18-year-old has started three of the Whites’ five Premier League matches this season, including the 3-0 defeat by defending champions Manchester City.

Despite seeing his side outplayed by City’s experience, Jokanovic saw plenty of positives in pitting Sessegnon against the likes of England internationals Raheem Sterling and Kyle Walker.

“It’s a huge benefit,” he said. “He’s not a small kid [anymore]. Ryan played a good game. It’s good for him, his development and experience. He must be satisfied.

“I defend my opinion about this player to be part of the national team for the World Cup after 100 games in the Championship. Now it’s time for him to play in these places.”

Fulham were second best at the Etihad Stadium

Jokanovic had little to complain about the Whites’ third loss of the season, even though they conceded within the opening minutes of each half.

He added: “We didn’t make it easy for ourselves, how we started each half. The end result was completely fair. They showed they are one of the best teams in the world.

“They showed great possession of the ball and great attacking weapons. They were fast, strong and played a good game.

“We didn’t find our best or perfect level. Without this level in this place, it’s not easy to play football.”
