Muniz’s goal rescues point for Fulham

Rodrigo Muniz’s equaliser earned Fulham a point after a dramatic finish to the game at Craven Cottage.
Jacob Murphy looked to have given Newcastle victory when he scored with a spectacular late strike.
But Muniz, surrounded by Newcastle defenders, did brilliantly to finish after being found by Cesar Palacios.
Fulham were on top for much of the first half, with Oscar Bobb causing former Chelsea man Lewis Hall big problems on the flank.
Josh King was just unable to connect with a cross from Bobb, whose strike brought a save from keeper Lukas Hornicek soon afterwards, Gonzalo Garcia missed a chance when he headed over from Timothy Castagne’s corner, and King’s volley was pushed away by Hornicek.
At the other end, keeper Bernd Leno denied Harvey Barnes after the Newcastle man was through on goal, and ex-Fulham defender Dan Burn headed into the net from a corner but the goal was disallowed because of a foul on Castagne by Yoane Wissa at the far post.
Early in the second half, Barnes fired against the outside of the post and Sander Berge went close for Fulham when he fired inches wide of the target.
The Whites appealed in vain for a penalty after Berge went down under a challenge from Burn, and Fulham seemed to be turning the screw before conceding.
They fought back after going behind – and in stoppage time Hornicek produced a fantastic save to keep out Ryan Sessegnon’s half-volley.
