More woe for Jol as United beat Fulham

Struggling Fulham rallied after a disastrous first half but were no match for the champions at Craven Cottage.

They were 3-0 down after only 23 minutes following goals from Antonio Valenica, Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney.

Alex Kacaniklic pulled one back midway through the second half and Darren Bent hit the bar, but the Whites have now lost three of their last five home matches and manager Martin Jol again came under fire from fans.

Jol’s cause was not helped by United scoring three times in the space of 14 first-half minutes.

Valencia had an easy finish after being set up by Rooney, before the lead was doubled following a mistake by Scott Parker.

Adnan Januzaj robbed the Fulham midfielder and played in Van Persie, who fired into the roof of the net.

And worse followed for the hosts two minutes later when Van Persie beat the offside trap and was able to tee up Rooney for another easy goal.

Substitute Kacaniklic netted with the aid of a deflection off Rooney and Fulham almost scored again when Bent’s header from Dimitar Berbatov’s cross came back off the woodwork.
