Fulham up to fourth after brilliant victory at Derby

Derby 1 Fulham 2

Aleksandar Mitrovic scored his third goal in as many games and Ryan Sessegnon his 14th of the season as Fulham continued their march towards the top two.

The victory at Pride Park saw the Whites leapfrog Derby County into fourth place in the Championship – just five points behind the automatic promotion places.

Derby had chances and were given hope when Tom Huddlestone pulled a goal back with a strike from near the edge of the penalty area midway through the second half.

But Fulham secured the three points and are now unbeaten in 13 matches.

After Derby’s Andreas Weimann had a goal disallowed for offside, on-loan Newcastle striker Mitrovic opened the scoring with a deflected effort following a 10th-minute corner.

Sessegnon netted 12 minutes later, slotting home after Matt Targett’s pass had been cleverly back-heeled towards the youngster by Stefan Johansen.

Both sides had excellent opportunities to score after Huddlestone’s goal.

Lucas Piazon should have made it 3-1 but failed to finish after being set up by Ryan Fredericks.

And Tom Lawrence fluffed a chance to equalise following a misplaced clearance by keeper Marcus Bettinelli.
