Fulham confirm departures of axed trio

Fulham have formally confirmed the departures of Rene Meulensteen, Alan Curbishley and Ray Wilkins.

The trio were axed following the recent appointment of former Bayern Munich boss Felix Magath, who has installed Tomas Oral as first-team coach and Werner Leuthard as conditioning coach.

Meulensteen was put in charge following the departure of Martin Jol but lasted only 12 weeks before being replaced, with the Whites bottom of the Premier League.

Wilkins' stay was a brief one.

Curbishley and Wilkins were brought in by the Dutchman as technical director and coach respectively.

Fulham owner Shahid Khan said: “Felix has come to Fulham with purpose and exceptional confidence, and I know he’s extremely pleased to have Tomas Oral and Werner Leuthard join him for the mission ahead.

“From today forward, the focus is singularly on winning football matches and remaining in the Barclays Premier League. The work has begun.”

Fulham play their first match under new manager Magath on Saturday, when they face West Brom.
