Fulham boss Parker keen to bring in striker

Scott Parker admits a striker is the number one priority for Fulham in the January transfer window.

The head coach previously revealed he was more likely to make a loan signing than buy, with a foreign import a more likely source than the Premier League.

The Whites have only scored 13 goals in 15 league games this season.

In an ever-desperate search for goals, winger Ivan Cavaleiro has been pushed up front, not least because the fading form of Aleksandar Mitrovic has been a major headache.

Last season’s Championship Golden Boot winner has netted only two in the top flight this term – and one of those was a penalty in a 4-3 defeat at Leeds.

Parker knows he has to look elsewhere if he is to avoid relegation for the second time in three seasons.

“At the beginning of the year we recognised where needed strengthening – and I thought we did that very well,” he said.

“But we have one recognised striker in the building in Aleks.

“It’s an area where we’re light and we’d like to strengthen. But we know it’s a difficult window and, in this climate, even more so.

“But it’s clear that in other Premier League squads there’s more depth.”
