Fulham boss bemoans penalty decision

Fulham manager Martin Jol bemoaned the decision not to award his team a late penalty against Manchester United.

The Whites appealed in vain for a spot-kick in the final minute of their 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford after Danny Murphy was brought down by Michael Carrick.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson admitted that a penalty should have been given, and Jol said: “I think everyone in the stadium expected a penalty.

“You have to be brave to give a penalty away at United. No one in the stadium could say that Danny Murphy dived.”

The Dutchman added: “I thought we did well because we stuck to our plan and we should have had a draw in the end.”
