Fulham are beaten by relegated Reading

Fulham 2 Reading 4

Fulham’s disappointing end to the season continued with a dismal home defeat against a side already relegated from the Premier League.

Bryan Ruiz scored both their goals, his second giving them some hope of a second-half fightback, but they were well beaten.

Hal Robson-Kanu netted twice for Reading, converting a first-half penalty after being fouled by John Arne Riise – who then cleared off the line from former Fulham man Pavel Pogrebnyak – and later doubling the lead with a curling shot beyond keeper Mark Schwarzer.

Ruiz responded for Martin Jol’s men by finishing well after playing a neat one-two with Hugo Rodallega.

Adam Le Fondre restored Reading’s two-goal cushion on 75 minutes, rounding Schwarzer and firing home after being set up by the impressive Jem Karacan.

Ruiz headed in Alex Kacaniklic’s cross and Rodallega hit the bar before Karacan capitalised on some slack Fulham defending to seal Reading’s win.

Fulham: Schwarzer, Riether, Senderos, Hangeland, Riise (Richardson 56), Duff (Kacaniklic 71), Karagounis (Rodallega 27), Enoh, Emanuelson, Ruiz, Berbatov.
Subs not used: Etheridge, Frimpong, Hughes, Manolev.
