FA charge Fulham boss Arbeloa with misconduct for post-match comments

The Football Association has charged Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa with misconduct over comments he made in a post-match interview after the 1-1 draw with Manchester United.

The Premier League match was played on Sunday 20 September. The FA announced the charge in a statement on Wednesday, and Arbeloa has until Thursday 1 October to respond.

The FA’s statement said: “It is alleged that the Fulham manager acted in an improper manner by making comments in a post-match interview that imply bias and/or question the integrity of a match official.”

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Arbeloa was unhappy about a foul given to United and said it was “all fouls for them [Manchester United]”.

He pointed to the foul on United’s Harry Maguire before they scored. Arbeloa said: “You can see before they scored, the foul against [Harry] Maguire, he’s a guy who is 100 kilos. Every decision was for them.”

Arbeloa added: “And I knew. I knew after the game against Man City [which United lost after a controversial goal] that they [would not] let Manchester United lose here. We deserved a little bit more.”
