Fulham captain Tom Cairney has committed his future to the club by signing a new five-year contract.

The 27-year-old, who was the subject of speculation linking him with a move away from Craven Cottage, played an integral role in Fulham’s promotion to the Premier League.

Cairney was outstanding last season and scored the winner in the play-off final against Aston Villa at Wembley to clinch the Whites’ return to the top flight.

He told Fulham’s website: “I’m obviously delighted to extend my contract, it’s all I’ve wanted to do, and I’m just buzzing to get the season under way.

“Premier League football is back at the Cottage and it’s great to be part of the squad that got us there again.”
