Arbeloa ‘upset’ after being denied first Fulham league win
Alvaro Arbeloa spoke of his disappointment after a late Manchester United equaliser denied him his first Premier League win as Fulham boss.
Lisandro Martínez’s comical own goal looked like giving the Whites three much-needed points.
But when defender David Affengruber stretched to try to block Matheus Cunha’s low shot from the edge of the penalty area, he deflected the ball past a wrong-footed Bernd Leno.
Arbeloa said: “I’m upset because we were so close – very unlucky with the goal we conceded.
“It is what it is. We need to keep working and improving. We knew this month would be difficult against top teams. I think we are in a good way.
“I’m not really happy, but I need to be focused and to put my energy into all the things that I have to improve.
“I have a lot of work because I want more from my team, from my players. I think we can do even better than today.
“Just one month together, so we need to continue in this way, and I will put all my energy into my players.”

There was another impressive performance by Josh King, who England boss Thomas Tuchel said this week was “very close” to a call-up for the national side.
“He is an amazing player. Really good player,” said Arbeloa.
“He is very difficult to defend (against) and he is proving game by game how good he is.
“I think he has to be patient with the national team because he is so young, but I am so happy with him.
“He’s been so important and will be very, very important for us through the whole season.”
