Arbeloa hails Robinson after emphatic return to form

Alvaro Arbeloa praised Antonee Robinson after a “fantastic” display for Fulham against Aston Villa.

After a below-par performance on Wednesday against Crystal Palace, the left-back was back to his best at Villa Park, setting up multiple chances.

It was good work from Robinson that led to the corner, delivered by Alex Iwobi, from which Fulham scored their equalising goal in the 1-1 draw.

Head coach Arbeloa backed Robinson to return to form ahead of the game – and his confidence was justified.

“For me as a coach, I was there (as a player) so many years ago, and I know how you feel when you have a bad game,” said Arbeloa.

“When you believe in your players, you have to give them the chance to play and to show how good they are.

“‘Jedi’ was fantastic tonight. He did really, really well. He has the experience, he has the quality, and it’s very important for us, and I’m so happy for his performance tonight.”

Fulham were much better in the second half, and showed resilience and character to come back and earn a deserved point.

They are now unbeaten in three Premier League matches and up to 15th in the table.

“I’m so happy with our performance in the second half. This is what I want to see from my team,” said Arbeloa.

“That character, and I think we maybe deserved a little bit more, but the performance was really great.”
