WBA v Chelsea player ratings

Chelsea’s loss against West Brom continued their shaky recent run. Here’s how we rated the Blues players in their 2-1 defeat at The Hawthorns.

Petr Cech: 6.
Not that much to do. Not at fault for the goals.

Cesar Azpilicueta: 6
Had a reasonable game both defensively and going forward. Put in several fine crosses. Promising display but no more than that in a poor team performance.

Gary Cahill: 5
One of his toughest afternoons in a Chelsea shirt. Struggled to deal with the pace and direct running of the superb Shane Long throughout.

David Luiz: 5
Dived in a bit too often. Looked uncomfortable and a little lost by a lack of a direct opponent.

Ryan Bertrand: 5
Did little wrong but Chelsea needed more from him going forward.

John Obi Mikel: 5
Part of a tactically deficient midfield that struggled to win the ball.

Oriol Romeu: 5
Was hardly noticed before being taken off in the second half. Playing him and Mikel just doesn’t work.

Eden Hazard. 7
The best of a poor bunch. Lively and threatening but badly missed his normal midfield chums Oscar and Juan Mata.

Daniel Sturridge: 6
Chelsea’s main threat in a lame attacking display. Slightly unlucky on three occasions after the break but missed an absolute sitter at the end.

Victor Moses. 5
Like his colleagues, plenty of endeavour but little end product. A couple of nearly moments but did not take his opportunity.

Fernando Torres: 5
Barely involved, had no worthwhile attempts on goal and taken off when his side desperately needed a goal. Says it all. No comparison to the threat of Shane Long.

Juan Mata: 7
Some classy touches and teed up a couple of good chances. Was badly missed for the first hour or so.

Oscar 5
Struggled to make an impact.
