Down to fourth in the Championship and without a win – or even a goal – in their last three matches, QPR are experiencing their most difficult spell of the season so far. Here’s how we rated the team in the 0-0 draw at Watford, where they played without a recognised striker for most of the game.

Rob Green: 7
Barely tested as Rangers dominated possession but he did what he needed to, including gathering Sean Murray’s deflected shot in the first half.

Danny Simpson: 7
A good display at right-back. Defended well and always looked to get forward.

Richard Dunne: 7
Has been below par in a couple of recent matches but was impressive again in this game, not least when producing a brilliant tackle to rob Diego Fabbrini as the Watford striker bore down on goal.

Nedum Onuoha: 7
Made a welcome return to the starting line-up more than three months after suffering a hamstring injury. Solid in the tackle and his pace at the back is an asset.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto: 6
Decent enough but is rarely likely to be troubled by opposing wide-men in the Championship so really needs to be doing more going forward.

Matt Phillips: 6
Had a powerful shot on goal early in the second half, which was well saved. Struggled to get into the game for long periods.

Yossi Benayoun: 6
Showed some nice touches on his first start for the club. Rangers will need him to be more dynamic as his match fitness improves.

Joey Barton: 6
Did a solid job in midfield and won his share of challenges without being at his best.

Tom Carroll: 5
Gave away possession on a number of occasions and was generally nowhere near effective enough on the ball to compensate for his off-the-ball shortcomings.

Junior Hoilett: 6
Had a good spell in the first half but faded in the second. Might have been more suitable for the lone striker role than Niko Kranjcar.

Niko Kranjcar: 6
Handed an unfamiliar task in the absence of Charlie Austin. Went close to scoring in the first half and deserves some credit for his display.

Andy Johnson: 6
Offered something up front when he was brought on with 20 minutes to go but was unable to make a significant impact.

Gary O’Neil: 6
Neat and tidy on the ball after coming on but by then the game was petering out in to a dull draw.
